Global Stampin Friends Blog Hop 20: That little bit Extra…

Global Stamping Friends Logo

Welcome to the Global Stampin Friends Bloghop number 20:  I’ve missed a few months, I lost my crafting mojo for some reason, probably because I’ve had enough of the cold and I’m ready for Spring to make a real appearance here in Alberta. I figured the only way to get my crafting mojo back is to actually sit down at my desk and play, and challenge myself, so here I am.

sweet little somebunny

I just got this stamp set on Sunday. Fitting since Sunday was Easter. I sat down Monday night, put on a 90’s playlist on youtube, and started playing.  Now,  I don’t know if you all have gotten a chance to play with the Stamparatus, but if you haven’t, oh my goodness!!! It is my favorite stamping tool by far!!!

I have the baby bear stamp set that is this same photorealism style stamp like this bunny, and before the stamparatus, it was a real challenge for me to line up those stamps properly, but I think I was also doing it wrong. I always used to stamp the lightest color first, but did you know you are supposed to stamp the darkest color first? Maybe your not supposed to, but it is WAY easiest to line up if you go darkest to lightest instead of lightest to darkest. My friend and upline Brenda showed me that at a party she was running.

Enough of verbal diarrhea eh, let’s get to the card, shall we?

This month the theme is that little bit extra, and you know,  I think that all the cards we make have that little bit extra because they are handmade. They have our loving touches on them, but my interpretation of this theme was the embellishments and touches that we add to step things up a little. There are a few things that I did to this card that give it that little bit extra. To start I dry embossed the card base with the ruffles embossing folder,  if that wasn’t enough, I added some blushing bride ink to the embossing folder so that the ruffles would look a little deeper for that extra extra added dimension. I also added a doily. I”m not sure, but I think they might be retired, but I have them so I use them.  I fussy cut the bunny.  I added a pink ribbon, which I flip-flopped between this one and a satin one, but I couldn’t tie the satin one as small as this one so this one won.  I popped up the bunny and the sentiment and I put the sentiment on a banner. All of these things I think add that extra little something to a card.

The last thing that I did, which ended up being my favorite thing, was to stamp the inside panel with the little flowers that came in this set. At first, I was only going to add a few in the corner, but I loved them so much I covered the entire thing. I added the inside sentiment to a stitched shape and matted it.

After all that I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed making this card. I absolutely love how it turned out, and it was exactly what I needed to get my creativity flowing again. Thank you for joining me today. Please check out the other lovely projects in our hop today, and if you find yourself in a crafting rut like I was, maybe you will find something to inspire you.
